Gerald Appel has been involved with photography for more than forty years.   He is the author of many books on photography including "Portraits of Nature" (1992), co-author of "American Photographers at the Turn of the Century - Travel and Trekking Edition" (1994), "The Art of the Human Form" (1996), and "Far Away Faces - A Guide to Better Travel Portraits" (1998).

Gerald Appel's work has been featured in numerous galleries, periodicals, travel brochures and in solo and group photographic exhibits within and outside the United States. He has received awards in photographic competiitons including medals in the Austrian Super Circuit, the largest international photography competition in the world.

He is represented in catalogues and photographic yearbooks.
